Welcome to Handy Man Dave's Blog! Here you will find free articles and video guides on a wide range of how-to topics. My mission is to provide the homeowner and the "do-it-yourselfer" with valuable information to complete home improvement projects in a professional manner.
2. Remove The Old Thermostat, including the wall plate.
3. Label The Wires. Your thermostat will have either 2 or 4 wires depending on whether your heating and cooling systems are separate or one unit. Label the wires, noting where they were attached to the old thermostat. Tape them to the wall to prevent them from falling back into the wall.
4. Install The New Wall Plate. You may need to drill new holes for the new model. Use a level and a pencil to mark where the holes are to be drilled. Use anchors if necessary.
5. Connect The Wires. (as directed by the manufacturers instructions that came with your new unit).
6. Install Batteries. If Required.
7. Mount The New Unit To The Wall Plate.
8. Restore The Power.
9. Program Your New Thermostat As Directed.
